Tinubu names George Akume SGF; Gbajabiamila Chief of Staff, Hadejia deputy COS

President Bola Tinubu in his first set of appointments since he was sworn in on May 29 has announced the appointment of Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representative as Chief of Staff and Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former deputy governor of Jigawa state named deputy chief of staff.

Also appointed during the meeting with the progressives governors forum (PGF) in Abuja Friday, is George Akume, a former governor of Benue state and the immediate past minister of special duties, as secretary to the government of the federation (SGF).

These crucial appointments revealed during a high-level meeting with the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) comes as no surprise to political observers as a viral video had already suggested Gbajabiamila would be Tinubu’s Chief of Staff

Gbajabiamila has long been considered a trusted ally of President Tinubu. His appointment as the seventh Chief of Staff, succeeding Ibrahim Gambari, is seen as a strategic move to solidify their partnership and capitalize on Gbajabiamila’s political acumen and experience who has served in the House of Representatives since 2003.

Akume’s previous role as Minister of Special Duties further bolsters his qualifications for this crucial post. As SGF, he will be responsible for overseeing the administrative functions of the government, ensuring smooth operations and efficient governance.

The appointments were confirmed through an official statement signed by Abiodun Oladunjoye, Director of Communications at the State House, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
