YPP symbolises growth, fertility, prosperity _ Party Chair
The Akwa Ibom state chairman of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Apostle Nyenime Andy, says the leaves symbol in the party logo represents “growth, fertility and prosperity”.
Andy gave this explanation while inaugurating the chapter office in Abak on Tuesday. He told the teeming crowd that YPP is a sign of good things coming to the state and urged the people to embrace the party.
In a welcome remark, the Chapter Chairman, Apostle Usunguwem Charles, said they have taken the message of the party to the grassroots and have been well received.
According to him, the crowd at the inauguration was a testament to the acceptability of the party by the people of Abak, adding that most of the persons trekked from their homes to witness the new political revolution.
He added that it will be very easy for the YPP to win the 2023 general elections because of the crop of candidates.
To the governorship candidate, Senator Bassey Albert aka OBA, Charles said: “You were doing well in all the offices you were given to man. Over 30 physically challenged people here with their voter’s cards have come to thank you and declare support for you”.
Engr. Okon Udo, a political stalwart from the area, who spoke on behalf of the more than 1,800 decampees, declared to work for YPP. He described the growth rate of the party at the grassroots as unprecedented.
“On behalf of all the 1,890 decampees, I declare that we shall work for YPP. Come 2023, YPP shall take over Akwa Ibom State. We only want to ensure that our state is okay”, Udo declared.
Mrs. Immaculate Friday, speaking on behalf of the women, said that they decamped from PDP to YPP because of the lofty programmes the “leaves party” has for women.
She urged the people of Abak to join YPP, which she described as an Ark, akin to the one Noah preached to the people to join before the torrential rain that was closing in.
On behalf of the Youths, Anietie Simeon said they resolved to enthrone a party that will cater to the needs of the people and brings hope to the Abak people, “who have been grossly marginalized in the face of harsh economic realities”.
Simon, the Abak Ward 3 Financial Secretary of PDP, who just defected to YPP, said he and his supporters defected to join OBA to give hope to the people of the state, whom he said have not benefited from the current PDP government.
