Bayelsa to immortalize late Niger Delta revolutionist Maj. Isaac Adaka Boro

A bill seeking to immortalize the late Niger Delta revolutionist and hero, Major Isaac Boro with a special day has scaled second reading on the floor of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.

The bill which is being sponsored by the member representing, Kolokuma-Opokuma Constituency One, Tonye Isenah, received wide support from other legislators during plenary.

Fifty years after leading an armed struggle to protest against environmental and economic injustices on the marginalized people of the Niger Delta region, a bill seeking to immortalize Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro with an official public holiday in his home state, is being received with enthusiasm, on the floor of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.

The lawmakers described the Niger Delta icon as a prophet, whose words brought about the consciousness, to demand justice on issues of environmental degradation and marginalization.

And following positive response from the legislators on the Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro Memorial Bill, the Speaker of the House, Abraham Ingobore, thereafter committed it to the House Joint Committee on Ijaw National Affairs and Culture.
