Cross River State solemn assembly season four held in Calabar
The fourth season of the Solemn Assembly in Cross River State was held on Saturday July 20, 2024.
The event themed: Greater Glory drawn from Haggai 2:9 is the vision of Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State and Rev. (Mrs.) Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, First Lady of Cross River State was held at the International Conference Centre (CICC) Summit Hills, Calabar, Cross River State.
The non-political and non-denominational prayer and fasting gathering also featured intercession, intense worship and word ministration.
Dignitaries at the solemn meeting were the Obong of Calabar, His Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, Treaty King, Oval Elder (Ambassador) Solomon Osim Edwards JP, The new Chairman of the States Traditional Rulers Council, Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo (DANSUKI) immediate past member Representing Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, High Chief (Dr.) Asuquo Ekpenyong, Snr. Father to Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, Jr. senator representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District in the National Assembly and His Excellency, Prof. Ivara Ejemut Esu, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Members of the State Executive Council and captains of industry among others who graced the occasion.
The Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Peter Agbe Odey who represented the Governor took the 1st Bible reading – Haggai 2:7-9 while the speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem took the 2nd Bible reading – 1st Chronicle 29:10-13.
Prayers of thanksgiving were offered for God’s goodness in the state spanning thriving economy and industrial development, Job creation and opportunities for the teaming youths, excellence of educational institutions the State, rejuvenating paradise status – Peace and Security, cessation of bloodshed, violence and kidnappings.
After delivering the sermon, Archbishop Offiong Mensah of the African Church Cathedral declared that the lost glory of Cross River State has been restored since the commencement of the Cross River State Solemn Assembly.
Chairman of the Cross River State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Dr. Caifas, Chairman of Cross River State Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigerian (PFN) a bloc in CAN, Apostle Dr. Trinity Ogar and Rev. Israel Eyo, former Chaplain of University of Calabar Chapel of Redemption specially prayed for the Governor, his family and the Government of Cross River State.
Hon. Justice Akon Ikpeme, Chief Judge of Cross River State and guest choirs from Unical Chapel of Redemption, Immaculate Conception, Ikot Ansa Choir, Assemblies of God Women Choir and PFN choir all ministered in songs.
Apostle Frank Umo, Special Adviser on Religious Matters, Cross River State who also doubles as Central Planning Chairman thanked the congregants and called for synergy from the laity and clergy for the success of the monthly Solemn Assembly.
In their separate comments after the spiritual convocation, His Eminence Elder Chief (Dr.) Bassey Edem JP, leader of Celestial church of Christ, Administrator and Chartered Accountant, Executive Chairman & CEO of DEMACO Integrated Ventures Ltd and former Managing Director of PAMOL NIGERIA LTD as well as National President of Nigeria Chambers of Commerce and Industry, including Pastor James John, lead pastor of Gospel House, The Home of The Gospel Deliverance Ministry all appreciated the Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu and wife, Her Excellency Rev. (Mrs.) Eyoanwan Bassey Otu for entrusting the State to God through the Solemn Assembly.
