Nissan, Renault, Mitsubishi cement partnership; mutes joint investment in EVs
Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi heads say their partnership remains rock solid at a press conference Friday where they stressed their commitment to work together to increase competitiveness in electric vehicles.
The joint news conference in Paris was the first of its kind since July, when Nissan and Renault finalized a capital relationship in which they hold equal stakes in each other.
“Our partnership is entering the next period in a stronger position to face disruption in the automotive industry,” said Uchida Makoto, President & CEO of Nissan Motor.
The three motor companies say they are now considering working together to develop EVs in India.
They also disclosed that Renault’s new EV maker Ampere will produce models for both Nissan and Mitsubishi. Nissan says it will invest up to 600 million euros in Ampere, while Mitsubishi plans to spend up to 200 million euros on the project.
