Royal fathers invoke traditional powers to stop kidnaping in AJU
After the kidnap and rescue of students of Arthur Jarvis University located in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State, Royal fathers in Akpabuyo and Bakassi Local Government Areas have vowed to use traditional powers to stop a reoccurrence of the menace in their domains.
His Royal Highness Etiyin Dr Etim Okon Edet who is also the Chairman of Cross River State council of chiefs and Paramount Ruler of Bakassi Local Government Area stated this on Saturday in a meeting he summoned the Clan Heads in the catchment area of the Ivory tower.
He told newsmen after the meeting that they are behind the management of the institution to explore all possible means to stop a repeat hence the need to issue the warning before it is too late, saying that any child caught in the criminal act shall be properly dealt with while the Head of his house will be sanctioned according to native law and custom.
In his response to the clarion call to address the issue, the Chancellor of the school, Sir Arthur Jarvis Archibong thanked the traditional rulers for the intervention and explained that the university was grateful for the concern in their times of distress and assured the students and parents that appropriate security measures have been put in place to stop a repeat of the untoward event.
