“We are talking about the future of Akwa Ibom, not PDP”_ Ukpong tells OBA

A Rivers-based businessman and an indigene of Ini Local Government Area, Mr. Emmanuel Eyo Ukpong has called on Senator Bassey Albert Akpan to remain strong, expressing the conviction that OBA will be the next governor of Akwa Ibom State.

Ukpong, a leading member of the Mbiabong Ikot Udo Progressives and Welfare Association, which recently declared unalloyed support for OBA, outlined the reasons the socio-political group is behind the leading gubernatorial aspirant.

“We looked at him as the only Akwa Ibom Senator because of what he did for our son, Celestine Obot Williams who was wrongly dismissed from the police service for about twenty years. Senator Bassey Albert, representing Uyo Senatorial District, came to the rescue of our brother from Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.

“Now, we look at him as the only Senator, the only Governor, the only party. Whoever is against his aspiration is doing that for peanuts. I challenge all those sycophants to tell me how useful their candidate is”.

He said given the landmark achievements made so far by OBA, they do not see any other hope for the Mbiabong Ikot Udo people as they have never felt any government presence before.

On the rancour going on in the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ), he said, “OBA is the one, and not the party. People are crying that OBA should contest. If the PDP should fail, then OBA should switch over to another party, get to the ballot and he shall win. The time for unnecessary over loyalty to a party is gone. We and over four million Akwa Ibom people are loyal to OBA. If he moves, we all will go with him. Let the PDP and its agents’ rest. We are talking about the future of Akwa Ibom, not PDP”, he added.
