2023 Elections: Qua’s snups APC candidate for Calabar State Constituency ticket
Qua indigenes in Calabar Municipal Local Government Area in Cross River State have vowed to frustrate the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the 2023 Calabar State Constituency elections, Mr. Stanley Nsemo, and instead, return Hon. Effa Esua of the Peoples Democratic Party, who is the current member representing the area in the Cross River State House of Assembly for a third term.
The People’s position was expressed through a prominent politician in the area who preferred talking on condition of anonymity and stated that since they were arms twisted to vote Hon. Efefiom Nta Eke as Chairman of Council against their wish, a native of Ikot Effiong Nta in Ikot Ishie political zone, it will be irrational to vote for someone again from that block for the House of Assembly in 2023 taking into consideration the role Hon. David Nsemo the former Vice- Chairman of Calabar Municipal Council played in the upstaging of their son Hon. Ekpo Okang when he was Chairman of Calabar Local Government Area, hence their resolve to deny the APC candidate ticket in the 2023 general elections.
But in a swift reaction, while charting with a LENS reporter on Wednesday at the Diamond Hill Secretariat of Intimate Alliance in Calabar, Obol Sulaiman Offiong, former APC governorship aspirant and leader of a socio-political group formed to actualize the victory of APC candidates in 2023 elections and native of Ikot Ishie said since the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Calabar Municipality/ Odukpani Federal Constituency, Mr. Edim Inok and current member representing the federal constituency Rt. Hon. Etta Mbora of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) both hail from Qua nation in Calabar Municipal Council Area, he would suggest a political solution to the problem to avoid creating bad blood in the politics of the area for equity and fair play to happen.
